VEVAY, Ind. — The Switzerland County Pacers ran into a tough challenge Friday night, falling 41-0 to visiting Tecumseh, an 8-1 team regarded among the top programs in the state. Sloppy, wet field conditions and costly mental mistakes once again made life difficult for the Pacers as they closed out the regular season. Tecumseh took control early, scoring 14 points in the opening quarter and adding six more in the second to carry a 22-0 lead into halftime. The visitors continued to build their advantage after the break, scoring six points in the third quarter and 13 in the fourth to secure the shutout. Switzerland County struggled to establish its running game, finishing with just 99 total yards, including minus-12 yards rushing. The Pacers completed 10 of 21 passes for 111 yards but were unable to find the end zone against a strong Tecumseh defense. Switzerland County recorded eight first downs and converted two of six fourth-down attempts. Quarterback Aiden Mosley completed 10 passes for 111 yards, while Masin Stroud led the Pacers with four receptions for 56 yards. Camron Simpson added two catches for 41 yards, and Brackston Sullivan led the rushing attack with 18 yards on 10 carries. Stroud also turned in a strong defensive performance, leading Switzerland County with 10 tackles. Aiden Greene and Brady Jones each recorded five tackles, while Greene added a tackle for loss. Mason Kilborn contributed two tackles and a tackle for loss. Tecumseh finished with 322 total yards, including 164 rushing yards and 158 passing yards. The visitors converted three of eight third-down attempts and two of four fourth-down opportunities. Switzerland County's lone turnover was a lost fumble, while eight penalties for 20 yards further disrupted the Pacers' efforts. The loss was a disappointing end to the regular season, but head coach Ryan Jesop is challenging his team to put the result behind them and turn its attention to the postseason. “We're disappointed with how things went tonight. Our boys continue to play hard, but we've had too many mental mistakes and too much inexperienced play at critical times. Against a team like Tecumseh, you can't give away opportunities and expect to stay in the game. The wet, sloppy field made things difficult for both teams, but we have to do a better job of executing and taking care of the football regardless of the conditions,” Jesop said. With the regular season now complete, the Pacers will look to make a fresh start when sectional play begins next week. Switzerland County will travel to Mitchell High School for its first-round sectional matchup, with hopes of putting another difficult performance behind it and building toward another postseason run. “We're looking at next week as a chance to start over,” Jesop said. “Everybody is 0-0 when sectionals begin, and that's the mindset we have to have. We know what we're capable of when we play with confidence, execute and limit our mistakes. We made a run to the sectional championship game last year, and that's something we want to do again. We have to learn from these experiences, get back to work and believe in what we can accomplish. Our season isn't over, and we're going to keep fighting.”
